Do you have a lot of things you adore but don't have anything to wear?
Clothing is a reflection of your personality, and your closet should be guided by your own tastes and preferences. The "base/basics" does not require frequent replacement and can be easily combined with each other. It is enough to follow a few universal rules, which we will tell you about, to build your own basic smart closet.
1. Color scheme - choose classic prints and universal shades
It is unlikely that a "predatory" leopard blouse or an acid green skirt embroidered with seashells will be equally popular for several seasons in a row. So, composing the basic closet, give preference to softer colors, classic and universal. Also try to choose long-lasting prints, such as plaid, polka dots or discreet flowers.
2. Comfort - keep your lifestyle in mind.
A basic closet first of all should be comfortable. So that you can almost without looking to combine clothes and shoes to get a stylish and comfortable look that suits you. Why do you need, for example, a basic pair of skinny pants, if you adore the spaciousness and freedom? That's right - no reason. So do not fill your closet with things that you do not feel comfortable and that do not fit your rhythm and lifestyle.
3. Quality - do not spare money on casual wear
A basic closet is a set of things that should last you at least a few seasons. Therefore, when buying always pay attention to the quality of the product, because it will be a long and active wear. Believe me, it is better to overpay a little for a good fabric than to buy new basic T-shirts every six months (in best case).
4. Versatile bottoms - think of ready-to-wear sets
Every pant, jean, or skirt should go with at least three pieces of different colors and styles from your closet. So if you have pants that look equally good with a work jacket, your favorite casual t-shirt and the most romantic blouse you keep especially for dates, then congratulations, this is the "base"!
5. The simpler the better - choose timeless styles
Simplicity in design is the key to the success of a closet that you plan to wear for several seasons in a row. Therefore, assembling the "base", avoid the styles and decorations, which in six months can lose their relevance. Fashion fades, but classic, versatile pieces remain.
